The Truth About Hypnosis May Not Scare You 😉
Many people have heard of the wonderful results accomplished through hypnosis and feel that it could also be helpful to them. Yet, many other people are afraid of hypnosis because of misinformation acquired from horror movies, novels, or television.
The purpose of this page is to show hypnosis as it truly is:Â a safe, natural, and effective way to work in cooperation with your subconscious mind.
The Most Commonly Asked Questions or Concerns
What is Hypnosis?
To explain what hypnosis is, it might be better to state what hypnosis is not. When a person is hypnotized, they are not asleep or in some eerie trance state. The hypnotized individual is aware of everything that is taking place. Even after being brought out of hypnosis, a person will be able to recall everything that took place during the session.
Hypnosis is a very normal, natural state that most of us experience every day – usually several times per day.
An example of daily hypnosis is driving a car and realizing that you can’t remember the last three or four miles of your trip home.
Another example would be so deeply involved in a book or a movie that you completely forget your surroundings – at least for a time.
These are just two of many many examples of every day hypnotic states. In both of these examples, the conscious part of the mind had been distracted, allowing the subconscious part of the mind to take over.
Who Can Be Hypnotized?
Absolutely everyone of average or better intelligence can be hypnotized. The only thing that can prevent hypnosis is fear, either conscious or subconscious, on the part of the client.
Some people who are particularly analytical in their thinking can have some difficulty letting go and just letting things happen instead of analyzing what is happening.
If, for any reason, you have difficulty achieving a state of effective hypnosis, Keith is also a Master Practitioner of NLP which does not require a traditional hypnotic state. In fact, Keith is more likely to stay on the NLP side of things for most of your session anyway.
In short, Keith has many tools and techniques to draw from so that almost everyone who sees him has a profound experience from the very first session.
Is There Any Danger with Hypnosis?
Your mind’s job is to keep you safe and help you survive. Therefore, you are in control at all times. Your mind is very aware of everything I am doing and saying every step of the way, and it will bring you out of hypnosis at the first sign of discomfort or concern. We work in cooperation with your mind. We never try to overpower it.
The only way hypnosis could be dangerous would be if it were used to take away pain without a doctor’s referral. For example, if an individual were to be hypnotically released from the pain of a stomach ache, he would not have the pain to let him know that there could be a medical problem such as appendicitis.
How Does It Feel to Be Hypnotized?
It really depends on what we do in your session. If we do a deep relaxation style method, then it feels WONDERFUL!
In fact, after most hypnotic sessions, subjects report that they sleep better at night and are more relaxed during their daily life. They also generally have more energy!
For most sessions, however, you will find it to be very introspective, uncovering and realizing things you were never fully conscious of before – and everything is done from a very safe space. There is no need to relive any traumatic event.
Either way, you will look like you are asleep without being asleep. You will be aware of everything that is going on, and you will be in control at all times.
Will I Do Something Against My Will or Have to Give Up Control?
When you are hypnotized, you are aware of all suggestions given to you, and you will not do anything that you are opposed to doing. You are in control at all times.
I treat every client with the utmost respect, and I keep you feeling safe and secure through the whole process.
Your Experience May Be Easier and More Natural Than You Expect
Many first-time clients don’t believe I hypnotized them during their first session because they didn’t feel hypnotized at all. In fact, they were. There are many different levels and techniques available within the realm of hypnosis – especially when we include Keith’s mastery of NLP. All we really need to do is get your distracting, jibber-jabber conscious mind out of the way, so that we can communicate directly with your subconscious mind, and there are many ways to do that.
